Steve Notes Smackdown 7/2/21

Edge: Mania was supposed to be the culmination of a dream: winning the universal title ten years to the day I had to vacate it. Then it didn’t happen. That wasn’t in my vision. It rocked me. But I started to roll the match back in my brain. I watched it and I never do that. Roman glosses over details. My one fear was Bryan preventing me from winning. I could complain about Bryan, about Jey, and I’d be justified. 2006 Edge would have. But in 2021 I have to understand there are gonna be excuses, obstacles. I’ve spent my career knocking down obstacles. Now that I’ve been in here with Roman one on one I know I can beat him. Roman knows. You’ll never admit it but you know I can. He throws to a shot from mania when he has him in a submission, they zoom into his eyes, he says those are eyes of fear. Then they tilt up to his, those are the eyes of the man that lives in his head. And that’s for life. Last week when you heard my music, the look on your face solidified what I know: I’m the guy that has your number. I’m gonna beat you, it’s a matter of when. It’s inevitable. It’s a matter of when.

Paul is watching the TV, Jimmy comes up, he says I got Roman’s back just like he has mine. He says tonight when Roman gets here, we’re gonna take him out and plant our flag in his butthole.

Mid-Match, Boogz makes an announcement, says Corbin’s card is being repo’d, with the license plate KINGCRBN (McAfee says who’s king crabbin?) THey show this on the tron, Big E hits Big Ending on Corbin’s distraction.

Bayley promo: I proved that BIanca’s victory at Hell in a Cell was a fluke when I pinned her last week. A loss like that this early in your title reign is NOT a good sign. BIanca is crumbling under the weight of her expectations. She needs to get her head in the game, cuz in two short weeks we’re back LIVE in front of you fans. It would make me sad to see Bianca fall apart in front of the boys and girls who worship her. THe crowd chants you suck. Bianca ain’t nothing to Bayley-- Bianca interrupts.

Girl, what you need is a crack in that mouth, cuz you might want this but I have this, but I keep beating you over and over but you keep coming at me, it’s like your obsessed with me.

BIanca admits she is. She says there’s only one way to end this, and that’s for me to embarrass you to the point of no return. So you can’t get in my head cuz I am so over you. So if the officials will allow it, at MITB, i’ll put my title on the line, in an i quit match.

Bayley says good one, dang I really did get in your head. You know me well enough to know I’ve never quit anything in my life, I’m here and I’ve accomplished everything, which is more than you ever will. So if you can make me say I quit, I’d probably quit Smackdown-- hey, I’d probably quit wrestling altogether, but hearing YOU say I Quit, I wouldn’t be surprised. You and I know you are not the champion you portray yourself to be. I accept.

BIanca laughs at her. I thought I was so sick of hearing you run your mouth, but I just realized how excited I am to hear you say those words, I quit.

Jimmy asks Heyman, what is Roman waiting for? Is he waiting for me? I’m gonna have Pearce save some space at the end of the show, Main Event Jimmy Uso is gonna beat Edge all over the place.

Kevin Owens vs. Sami Zayn LMS

They go to the outside, KO rams Sami’s head into the various Thunderdome screens, at one point starts introducing him to everyone, including Steve. Sami sends KO into the announce table, but the table didn’t break.

Owens comes back by the time the commercial is over, slaps Zayn around, Owens gets two tables out, which he’ll probably go through. Owens stacks them, tries to suple Sami into them from the top, Zayn is able to counter, plancha’d Owens instead.

Back in, Zayn gives Owens some ground and pound, Owens grabs his nose, Zayn counters with an exploder. Zayn tries to take him up top, Owens counters with a BRAINBUSTER from the top.

Up top, Sami pushes Owens off the top through the tables, Owens BARELY makes the ten count

Zayn gives Owens an exploder onto the apron, gets in the ring, eats a helluva kick, Owens gets up by 7, eats another helluva kick, Zayn picks him back up, says this is karma for everything you’ve ever done, a THIRD Helluva kick, KO ROLLS OUT OF THE RING onto his feet to break the count

He jumps into a superkick on the outside jumping through the corner of the ring, gets in, eats a popup power bomb, gets up at 8, eats stunner, rolls out, asks KO how we got her, KO says KARMA! JESUS KO powerbombs him through the announce table, then the table set up earlier, then onto the apron JESUS CHRIST Sami doesn’t get up

Boogz catches up with Corbin, says you should join us, he cracks a bunch of KING jokes, to which Corbin says You think this is funny? Kicking a guy when he’s down? Screw you, man.

Sonya Deville introduces Zelina Vega back to WWE, she’s in MITB

She says clearly it’s her honor to announce her return, like it’s her pleasure to grab the mitb briefcase, just like she can’t wait til the champion is down, beaten, half standing so she can cash in and become smackdown, raw or nxt champion. Liv Morgan comes out, says WHAT IS GOING ON HERE? Sonya, it’s bad enough you didn’t have Mella qualify for mitb, I feel like I belong in that match, so you’re just rewarding Vega with a spot? She doesn’t deserve to be in this match, she hasn’t even competed on Smackdown all year? HOw is it even fair?

Vega: It’s fair cuz I’ve competed in rings like this all year, I can run circles around you, I can embarrass you, and show what an amateur you are. Liv SLAPS her. Says prove it. LET ME PROVE IT.

SOnya makes the match.

Rollins interrupts Pearce and Sonya, he introduces himself, and they’re like, we know who you are. OHHHH I”m glad you remember who I am, given that you gave Edge the match against Roman at MITB. Pearce says Edge deserves the opportunity. Seth says SO DO I. They argue over the situation, Sonya THEN SAYS SETH HAS TO BEAT CESARO TO QUALIFY FOR MITB. Rollins heavy breathes.

Jimmy comes back to Heyman, finally Heyman says the Tribal Chief operates on his own time. Heyman says all you need to do is go out there and be main event jimmy uso.

Jimmy comes out, calls out Edge. It’s just me and you now Uce, no Roman here Edge. To be real, I don’t need ROman tonight. Cuz I can handle you all by myself. This isn’t a trap, it’s just UCE callin you out lets do this. Edge comes out, don’t you see he’s using you just like he’s using your whole family. He beat the holy hell out of Jey til he acknowledged Roman. You were there. And then once he’s done with Jey he starts using you. What happened to your backbone. What happened to nobody’s bitch? Now you’re just one of his bitches. ANd here’s what you don’t realize. Roman laid a perfect trap, but this isn’t a trap for me. It’s a trap for you. Edge attacks him, posts him. Twice. Jimmy superkicks Edge, gets the upper hand, Big boot from Edge, ground and pound, puts him in a submission, Jimmy taps, Edge spears Jimmy. Edge gets a chair, stomps the brace out of it, puts it through Jimmy’s mouth says LOOK ROMAN!! LOOK ROMAN!!!
