Hey friends,
I have so much to share with you, I've fallen behind. I've been moving and being a moody artist. But I am so happy you're here and would love to share all these goodies with you. Here's almost all of my favorites from my day in the field with Zea, Emily & Szara.
Backstory: they are all in Ashland, OR and have followed me on IG for a long time and have asked from time to time to shoot. The week before I moved into my new home here in Portland, I spontaneously decided to visit some friends in Ashland. I reached out to these women and they were all stoked to shoot. It was the first time I met them in person. It was also one of the only few times I have done a shoot with people I have not met in person first, which is interesting.
It did get me thinking about my journey as a photography and what it's all for. In some ways, I'm really open to shooting all kinds of people/places/things. But I will say that I notice that my passion for a lot of the art I've created is rooted in the fact that I am usually very connected to the people and places that I have photographed and showcased here and on my instagram. The photoshoots themselves tend to be very bonding as well. We are usually in some sort of flow state for 5+ hours and they are often spontaneous concepts, more candid, really happening.
A part of me always wants the art to feel this way. However, I don't want to say no to making art with new people - that would really limit my expansion and potential opportunities. So I stay open. But it is what separates art from, "oh that was cool" to "that changed my life and I will remember it forever"...
This shoot was pretty cool, and I am happy I met them :) I will be hosting some photography gatherings at my house in Portland and these women and many others have expressed excitement to attend. I will film it and show you. And of course, you are invited.
Meanwhile, thank you for being here.
Much love
