Only desires/instincts and the cunning to figure out how to efficiently satiate those hungers. That’s why her act of giving that family a new daughter to replace the one she ate was extra dark. Since it wasn’t even remotely done out of a misguided intention to actually atone or help that couple move on. It was solely out of her own selfish desire to try and live comfortably in the village without everyone constantly hating and making things harder for her.
