You probably know but G8 is 196-206, and is popular filler. Water 7 is a saga but technically you have to first watch a short canon arc (Long Ring Long Land) that is from 207-219. Many people don't recommend it or say to skip the parts padded with filler but I recommend watching it all. It's good stuff. Then some pure filler is 220-226. Towards the end some canon gets mixed in for some scenes, classic Toei. Water 7 arc-proper starts at 227. Appreciate G8 and Long Ring arcs while their levity lasts.

Commander Drake mentioned he's seen the Straw Hat Ship twice before because he and this Navy Base previously made cameos in Movie 4: Dead End Adventure, which would take place between Alabasta and Jaya. Since many early movies are impossible to find or not worth watching, Movie 4 is the first one worth recommending, and the only one you could watch at this point. Also "Movie 6: Baron Omatsuri and the Secret Island" is very popular and takes place before Water 7. Hope you react to them someday.
