What does Out-of-Packs Trading mean?

Out-of-pack trading is the idea of making a profit through cards not getting supplied anymore because they got a special version in packs or replaced by the Gold Version again. We can expect rising prices with less supply and consistent demand. 

Gold Cards Out-of-Packs

Gold Cards go out of packs whenever they have a new special card in packs. That can be through the TOTW, MOTM or promo releases. SBCs do not replace the Gold Cards in packs. 

Gold Cards that are out of packs don’t get supplied through packs anymore and that reduces the supply for them. Some of them still get consistent or strong demand through different SBCs or Gameplay which then increases the price. 

This change in the demand and supply allows us to make a profit. We can buy cards before they go out of packs and sell them while they are out of packs. This is the very basic concept of this trading method. 

However, this is a very popular and common trading method which creates hype even before some cards go out of the packs. It is recommended to be ahead of other people and buy cards in advance. This can be done through different buying windows similar to the TOTW Hype guide or super early buys for very obvious trades such as great performers for TOTS releases. Buying early also allows you to sell cards in the hype and don’t even risk it for the potential out-of-pack rise.

Surprising releases have the opportunity for some Rush Trading and are part of the Out of Pack concept. Holding cards past the initial hype is still risky but it’s possible to make a profit from the out-of-pack rise.

Sell times for out-of-pack Golds are very straightforward. We aim to cover as much as possible of the out-of-pack duration but we want to avoid selling too close to them going back in packs. It's recommended to sell at least a few days before they are back in packs. 

Special Cards Out-of-Packs

Special Cards are going out of packs after a week of their release or at the end of the promo team (in most cases). That allows them to be out of packs for a longer time and also have a long-term price increase if the market allows it. The rise can be through meta aspects such as links, nation or positioning, or through other content releases such as Objectives or SBCs.  

And that is also the biggest difference between Gold and Special cards. Gold Cards out-of-pack are mainly short-term trades and it's easier to predict their out-of-pack potential over the next week. Special Cards are out of packs until the end of the year and there will be many different movements. 

We aim to simplify this and give expected movements for the next week or maybe two weeks. That makes the market a lot easier and we can give accurate market predictions. Special cards also depend a lot more on the overall market than Gold Cards. Other promo releases with similar cards or even an updated version of the same card can dramatically reduce the demand for the previous card if the new card is cheap or better.
