Dark Night of the Umbreon (full comic!)

Here is the finished first print edition of Dark Night of the Umbreon! This comic was made in about 10 days, and printed with Fail Pail Press, a home studio run by my friend Roger in San Jose. 

"Dark Night of the Umbreon" is a pokemon fancomic based on Sword and Shield lore that is also a metaphor for gender envy. Eevee wants to be Umbreon, Umbreon's a dick. But even the biggest assholes are somebody's little cutie. The facade of masculinity falls away, everybody wins. There's also some trainer shipping between my fav boys from the game! Leon/Raihan, and a guest appearance from my boy Piers! Let me know what you think, and if my insight changes your interpretation. Overall, it's still just a pokemon silly comic with sexy eevee guys!

I decided to whip this out so quick cuz I was invited to do a reading at SIlver Sprocket last Friday, as part of "Pride in Panels", the inaugural queer comics fest in SF. What a great event! I love zine fests, but a fest that is solely focused on comics was even better, and the amount of diversity within just queer comics was great. There were so many talented artists and a surprising amount of pornography too!! The fest was also completely free... badass!! It reminded me of organizing San Jose Zine con at MLK library back in the day- 2016-2018- which was also 100% free. This shit is possible! I'm so proud of Sprocket, the library, and everyone who came together to make Pride in Panels happen. I can't wait for next year.  I wish all the grifters I've met running "zine" fests that cost $300+ to table could have attended Pride in Panels and gotten their nose rubbed in piss seeing how successful it was, anyway I DIGRESS, you're here for the art right, well, here's the rant too lol.

When I was asked to read, I didn't really have anything I wanted to read, since Pinky & Pepper is currently out of print (would love to finally do a reading from it someday tho), and I wanted to read something funny and not too explicit for the audiences sake lol. So I made this! It was only my second time doing a comics reading, the first time being a reading of "Fig Wasp" back in 2014, my ecosexual insect porno haha. I was honored to be invited! My boyfriend helped do some voices and it was a hit. I made 30 copies and sold 25! There's 4 remaining copies at the Silver Sprocket store on Valencia in SF. 

I hope to fix a few mistakes and reprint it eventually. There's definitely a few..... enjoy!!
