Re:Zero 1x7 Full Length

I actually did clock that, there was just a lot going on.

The incantation for water is Shiha. Huma is shared by fire and water.

I think you guys missed it, but Subaru notices when Anastasia speaks that she uses a Kansai Japanese dialect, which then he is told is the dialect spoke in Kararagi, the place she's from. In Re zero Subaru can understand everyone when they talk, but here he notices a difference for the first time.

The incantation characters say to use magic describes the spell's strenght. Fire magic uses the word "GOA", water magic uses "HUMA", wind magic uses "FULA", earth magic uses "DONA" and shadow (or it's more correct translation Yin) magic uses "SHAMAC". The base spells of the attributes use just those single words, but to cast higher level ones they have to use the words El, Ul or Al before the spell type word. Meaning Shamac < El Shamac < Ul Shamac < Al Shamac for example.

The cloak you see Emilia wear has a spell that masks your identity. She uses it so people don't get scared of her.

Emilia isn't nearly top of the verse, but one thing she has is the biggest mana capacity of the story. Even Roswaal is second to her there.

SilverAtlas

In Lugunica there are mages who stand at the top of their respective elements. Roswaal for example is the greatest magic user because he can use all six elements pretty well, but in particular he is the top mage in fire, wind and earth magic. His flight ability we saw was a combination of these 3 elements which makes it insanely hard to pull off. Felix is the greatest water magic user, water magic in Re Zero is not the typical control of water, but the ability to control life, meaning healing. Felix has thus no offensive capability. Water magic can be used to create icicles, but unlike the ice made from fire magic, they cannot simply freeze their surroundings, making it more limited.

As hard as this episode is to watch, it's part of the reason why Re:Zero is my favorite isekai. Return By Death is a super useful power, but Subaru himself is a normal dude, which means he can't get away with acting like some big shot and playing out his fantasy roleplay. He has no proper training or status, yet he thinks he can just declare himself a knight literally in front of all the kindom's actual knights. He completely breaks his promises to Emilia, thinking she needs him there in order to succeed, and he just ends up harming her standing. And when pressured by Emilia, his selfless hero act drops, and he claims that she owes him for all that he's done for her. Subaru isn't some shonen MC paragon of good type of character (not to shit on those types of characters since Deku is legitimately one of my favorite anime MCs along with Subaru). He's deeply, humanly flawed and without any of the raw power/ability that might allow an MC in a different anime to get away with some of the shit he did this episode. And because he's so flawed, it's amazing to see him come from this low point and genuinely grow to be a better person.

Subaru130

Puck is the Great Spirit of Fire because the magic he and Emilia use is fire magic. In Re Zero fire magic is the ability to control temperatures, meaning both fire and ice fall in this category.

They're calling it the deadest run of all time folks

Legitimately hard to watch. No matter how many times I see it. This is actually why people disliked Subaru for a while when this first aired. Also, I recommend watching the cut content for rezero by aninews. It provides more context for stuff in the anime.
