His grandmother taught him to play. He lived with her for a while when his mother got sick. Jody you’re right it’s about the piano but I have always thought that there is some love for his mom and grandmother also mixed up in this song. He actually learned to play when he was very young - I think he meant that he came back to it when he was 14 because there are a lot of clips of him casually playing while composing. I do think this is rap in the sense that it is rhythm and poetry, but it’s more like spoken word poetry set to music so it is a bit different. There is a live performance of this on YouTube too but it’s kind of emotional. Thank you for your reaction 💕
