I didn't expect that I would paint a welder in a pinup setting, but I came across a badass and beautiful female welder on Instagram and that inspired me to do this. As a tribute.
I could see me paint a welder for a commercial advertising campaign but this idea just came up and I had to give it a go.
It's not a portrait though, just one out of my pretty extensive imagination. However, the inspirational spark for this painting actually would look great in my artwork.
I decided a while ago to only do portraits of models actually modelling live for me or portraits for commissions. The decision had to be made (be it reluctantly) because of a pinup series I did on Instagram a couple of years ag of 30+ randomly picked but most inspiring people I just came across by chance. That generated such a massive number of requests for free art, that it took a whole lot of time to politely decline.
I still did one or two after that decision but that's exceptional, because I can break my own rules when I can't stop myself. I sometimes do very famous people when I see them being most inspirational, but that's not the same. Their famous friends have never asked me anything yet.
