nah jody.. you can read through manga arcs like skittles.. pacing is always better for manga readers.. you can read through a whole 20 minute anime episode in like 5 minutes.

Earlier in the episode he said that he knew Pouf was hiding something from his actions. He said their minds are linked since their the ones that brought him back. So wouldn't that mean Poufs and Youpis memories would be linked too? If that's the case he would have known about Komugi. It would seem logical.
