"When you work here long enough, everyone starts to go horsey. It's from what they use on the horses to promote healthy growth, they sweat it out and it gets all over you just from normal care...heck, it also evaporates and you end up breathing it in. There's not really any escaping the horse hormones and who-knows-what-else is in that formula, so before long people are also asking you, 'why the long face?' Just comes with the territory.
And then one day, usually after a week of some soreness and a bloated feeling, your teats just kind of pop off all at once. Not like instantly, but fast enough that you can watch it happen. And that's when you're pretty much done with jeans, they don't make any that can contain them well enough without compressing them painfully. Which is a shame, because farm work is rough, dirty work, and it's nice to have something covering your legs besides horse hide. But we manage, all the same."
