Commercial Tier?
Added 2021-10-02 05:36:04 +0000 UTCHey everyone, I was thinking about creating a tier that gives some sort of commercial license to be used on adventures (not sure yet about maps but I could think about including those since I know there are some great mapmakers using my tiles :P)
What this will allow is to create an adventure using any of the content I made and sell that on Roll20 or similar places, the catch is that you have to be a sub on that tier to sell said adventure, if you leave the tier you also lose the permission to sell anything using said assets (so if you have an adventure on a marketplace, you would have to change the tokens/maps).
The other possibility is split revenue/royalties, but until Roll20 has something automatic set for that it would be a bit more cumbersome.
Anyway, what you all think of this? any of you interested in doing some adventures? for price I was thinking around 25-30 or so.

Yeah, but also in that case there is nothing stopping someone right now from using the assets with or without permission (I can probably claim on sites like roll20 and the like to take those down if I find them, but its still possible) I wouldn't mind revenue split, but I find that cumbersone if the site doesnt have an automatic system (roll20 doesnt have that yet, not sure about drivethru or others)

2021-10-02 15:38:06 +0000 UTCHonestly my only real concern with it is it lacks any way to uphold it outside of honor system. It may be cumbersome but I think accepting submissions of creations with your assets to be sold by you so you have direct control over the revenue split might be a way to go unless you want to follow the path of adoptable pack sellers and just accept a flat price for the packs with commercial use on the included materials. There might be a way to have a "subscription model" out there for user files outside having your own market but I am not entirely sure about that stuff.
