She was a little miffed when you mentioned these things to her; you didn't think you were being cynical, just realistic. But you told her you had a better idea, another way to enjoy the excitement and the fireworks while avoiding all the crowds...while it was rather chilly, she had to agree that this was much more fun.
If you listened closely to the broadcast, you might've heard some brays of ecstasy echoing from a nearby rooftop...
