Her studies into its history had led her here, to a surprisingly nondescript cleft in the mountainside, with wards easy to dismantle for someone of her abilities. As she slipped the pendant on, she felt it demanding its price...fur covered her body, and her face ballooned forward into her field of vision, the muzzle of a rat. This was no surprise to her, a sacrifice she'd read about long ago. She embraced it willingly. The power it granted more than made up for some paltry physical changes...if anyone gave her trouble, she could deal with it easily now, as flickering flames danced around her with a mere thought.
Soon she would command the respect she deserved...
