Pride spotlight - Lydia

This little project may or may not be my excuse to draw krogan again (but let's be honest, any time is a good time to draw krogan) so here we have Lydia!

I had her join Cerberus Daily News about a month after I joined as Branka. Before CDN, I did try to bring her on tumblr's MERP community but RP blogs were slowly becoming inactive so I didn't have a chance to show her off. Originally she was a dancer at Purgatory on the Citadel, then on CDN she was a dancer and a prostitute at a club in Nos Varda/New Nos Astra and was an indentured servant. Her and Branka became the resident female krogan on the boards. While other female krogan came (much to my excitement) and went (much to my sadness) these two remained.

Lydia was a nice little switch up from Branka. There were times when writing Branka and figuring out her identity was stressful. So Lydia was a nice change of pace where I could write about someone who already had most of her issues figured out, and be part of conversations that Branka couldn't be part of. But that didn't mean she was perfect, and I had some struggles with her too. Both in character and out of character, Lydia was sometimes looked down on because of her job as a sex worker, and her casual views about sex (which was hypocritical because other characters were treated with praise for doing the same thing, but there was a stigma that krogan and sex were bad because GENOPHAGE) Besides that occupation, she dreamed of opening up her own fashion boutique once she finished her indentured contract.

I wouldn't say Lydia was like Branka where she helped me discover something about myself, but she was like the other side of the coin for Branka. When Branka wasn't getting the support I hoped for, I had Lydia come in as the big sister to give her words of wisdom or comfort.

The other aspect of Lydia was I just wanted her to flirt with people, and when she joined CDN, I had her make a beeline for Dwick XD There was a lot of improv but her approaches were with permission from Infrastruct :3 I had her flirt with others, she even had this "old flame" relationship with a drell named Cerastes but Dwick was the one she worked with best.

Originally, the two weren't supposed to have a serious relationship, as Infrastruct said Dwick was simply too selfish. But later on I did this plot where Lydia was kidnapped by a former owner, and some fun unexpected developments happened from that and Dwick and Lydia have been inseparable since.
