Despite everything, we stay silly

So last week was not so great, and I don't want to use this to vent about it (Im honestly ready to move on) but the week was fantastically topped off with a tornado warning that caused a lot of damage to the area we lived in. So my partner and just returned from a disappointing outing only to return to a mess and no power. That said, you dont feel like drawing when things around you suck, and that said again, thank you to everyone who always show support, on here, in chat, regarding my art, and for our safety ;u;

So onto the art! This week's prompts were Trends, hunter, diet, breach, and baby talk. Baby talk was the only prompt I didnt get to do (YET)

The first piece was some quick pieces showing off the trends orca have displayed throughout the years. Researchers still don't know the reason why they do these things (curiosity? boredom?) The salmon hat trend was first observed in the 80's when a female was seen carrying a salmon on her head, and then not too long her pod started copying it! What's really funny and cool is just last year another pod brought the trend back and were seen wearing salmon again!

Other behaviors recorded were hiding or moving lobster/crab traps even though they're not a regular part of their diet. And the latest one that happened recently were the boat sinkings! There have been a lot of theories about that particular behavior. Some said that since some orcas do get injured by rotor blades theyre acting out in retaliation, and there's jokes that orca have just had enough of people (eat the rich!) Another conclusion was it might just be a bunch of juvenile orcas being...well, teenagers!

Next is a comic that combines Hunter, Diet, and Breach into one. I did this while waiting for the power to come back on.

So one of the many cool things about orcas is different pods have their own unique ways of hunting. Some pods like the Southern Resident Killer Whales only eat salmon. While others like Transients and offshore orcas eat a variety of marine life. Then there's arctic orca who have cool ways to get seals off the ice, and orcas from Patagonia who do something called Intentional Stranding. If you ever see videos of orca washing up on the shore to grab a seal, that's most likely them!

I have my own headcanons about the zorca and their hunting habits. Cironus for example likes to ambush monsters on the shore, but sometimes he needs to find ways to get them close enough. That's where Sardon comes in! He puts on a show that attracts enough attention that they can't help but get a closer look.

Sardon's tactic is inspired by a killer whale named Jack who did something similar but to scare seal pups into the water. And what a show he gave too!
