Announcement
Added 2024-08-22 23:41:01 +0000 UTCIt's been more than two months since I started releasing Rise of a Planeswalker, and I couldn't be more grateful for the support I received. I didn't expect so many of you would decide to spend your money to follow what I write. Thank You.
Still, in retrospect, this has been far from perfect. In fact, looking back, I can't help but be disappointed by my writing. If I could go back and do it again, I would have done things differently. Honestly, there were just too many problems to consider this serial a success.
For one, this thing has an identity crisis. I started Rise on the spur of the moment, never thinking deeply about what I wanted it to be, and many people were disappointed by how this all turned out. I just have to check the number of patrons who have cancelled their subscriptions in the last two months to truly know.
Still, this is entirely my fault. Before posting it and scrambling to make something half coherent, I should have taken more time to flesh out how I wanted it to be. By now, I believe it's too late to change anything. Besides, I don't really have the motivation to do so. That doesn't mean I want to end this serial, far from it. There's just so much I want to explore with it, but I also need to be realistic.
My goal in all this is to live off my writing, and I've come to the sad conclusion that Rise of a Planeswalker won't allow me to do so. There's just too much wrong with it. As such, I've been working on a new serial with a premise that I find quite interesting. Using what I learn, I believe I can create something even better.
That also means that I can't put all my attention on Rise. I still intend to continue it, but instead of 5 chapters/week, I plan to reduce it to 3 while I work on my new one.
However, the good news for you is that once my new serial's chapters are ready, I'll post them here and allow you members to read them without additional membership costs. I would also appreciate any criticism you have so I can refine it further before debuting it on Royal Road. Here's the premise.
The title I've decided upon for now is Red Dust. Its genre is mostly Xianxia, but it's also a LitRPG set in a post-apocalyptic world with many Sci-Fi elements. The story's protagonist is called Ning Shan. He was the Patriarch of a cultivation sect that had conquered his whole realm.
In less than a thousand years, Ning Shan reached the Apex of cultivation and sought to go even further. He challenged the Heavenly Dao, seeking to break away from its shackles, only to be struck down mercilessly. He then wakes up in a completely different world, where a System is downloaded into his brain. He then has to figure out what happened to him, what new powers he received from it and why everything is trying to kill him.
I have already written and edited the first chapter, but I'd like your opinion before I start on the rest. I'd like to polish them before I write anything half-assed that nobody is interested in.
Thank You for reading this, and I hope you all stick around.

Rise is a really enjoyable read. As an author you might not be happy with it, but it's an engaging story and an excellent premise. It has incredible potential. 5 chapters a week is too much for most people. Maybe a step back will help. Also taking some time to plan things out more.

Hell, when I first started writing NeoRealm, I only managed a couple chapters before I restarted the entire thing with a similar, but at the core completely different setting. Even then, it took me a while to really get a big hit in my second story. Though yeah, you'll want to build up a good few chapters of any new novel before releasing to RR. Slam the site with a period of heavy releases before going to a more sustainable schedule seems to be the best way of succeeding at the moment.
