the first rule of cancel culture is DON'T APOLOGIZE

Adam, your DGAF had me cracking up. "Now that Travolta is single..." Great podcast as usual. Definitely want to hear the Pleasure Cruise special, so make it happen.

I’ve been watching this — the first four hours of MTV. Talk about the Empire... commercials and VJ’s and everything. Thought this crew of folks would appreciate it. https://archive.org/details/1981.08.01_MTV_First_Four_Hours_Remastered_12am_Saturday_August_1st_1981

Love BEE's monologues!

EXACTLY! Look at China’s (THE EPICENTER) numbers! They are so fake it’s not even funny.

David Eugene

Dude... the numbers are the numbers. There is a shit ton of data out there. It’s not deadly... CERTAINLY not as deadly as they had the world believe at the beginning, but such things happen during a moment of uncertainty. Be responsible for yourself. Wearing a mask is totally political. It doesn’t prevent you from getting sick and actually weakens your immune system. So your “scientific fact” is not bullet proof. Protect the vulnerable, yes... but quarantining healthy people is the true disaster here. Deaths by suicide and drug overdose have SKYROCKETED since these disastrous lockdowns have gone into effect... check those numbers.

David Eugene

Bret's opening monologue, with his memories of summers long gone and the cultural impact of Empire artists like The Cars and Bruce Springsteen, was easily one of the best Bret has ever crafted for the podcast, and absolutely delivers to be published elsewhere (hopefully in book form, sometime down the road). So good!

Zack Ravas

I skipped the Paul monologue. Great episode otherwise.

Rob Motto

Stellar monologue Brett!

Mark J Mazurkiewicz

Great podcast. When the World Health Organisation are easily intimidated by countries. Its difficult to trust the COVID information given.

Stevan Popovic

Great monologue. I think you’re underplaying the COVID crisis and the death toll. And it’s a scientific fact that if everyone used a mask the contagion rate would drop considerably. So I don’t get how is this a political issue in the US. Use the mask. Be responsible with your fellow human beings, come on! And this comes from a Mexican living in Mexico, where the crisis management has been awful and some people are too fuckin’ macho to wear a mask. Frustrating.

Hey, Bret! Was that meeting you talked about having concerning the TV project with Irvine Welsh? Very much interested in hearing more about that, if it isn't too soon. I'm curious how a collaboration like that would work. It sounds to me like maybe you already offered a clue about that, assuming you were in deed referring to the Irvine Welsh collaboration. Really appreciated the new season opener. That experiment with format really worked out, your guest host seemed like a good dude. But yes, it's your essays that spark the pilot light for me.

Great respective monologues & conversation

Most schools are open here in Australia. European nations too are reopening. It's like some Americans are determined to wreck their economy for political reasons. Sad.

Benjamin Terpstra

"Re-education art." Love it!

Read my short story "WACKOdemics!" https://thievingmagpie.org/mick-mcgrath-fiction/ It's about free speech, free inquiry, and cancel culture. It was reprinted by a Brooklyn-based magazine but two days later the editors cancelled it, claiming I'm a racist and a misogynist, both totally false claims.

Michael McGrath

What a great episode that hits the spot on music and the upcoming election.

Brettster that monologue was moving so beautiful thank you ! Reflections of my childhood cruising the locker room at the private club getting sneaking side glances of cock and balls lol🤩
