2018-10-22 14:15:16 +0000 UTCBret's comment about what a good heist/noire movie should be made me want to watch again "Le Cercle Rouge", a 1970 French classic from Melville with Delon and Montand. I really recommend it (the Blu-ray Criterion version is the best, but hard to find). I also highly recommend the original 2002 Hong Kong movie "The Departed" is a remake of, "Infernal Affairs" (at 101min it's very watchable, but avoid the dubbed version). 2018-10-19 13:50:14 +0000 UTCKanye in the Oval Office was a very sad spectacle. The guy obviously needs help. Bret is a loyal friend. Great. But, come on, do we need to feel sympathy for poor misunderstood bananas spoiled victimized Kanye? Haven’t seen Mandy, but Bret went from meh! to hailing it as a major work in a second viewing. Maybe you should comment on how our perception towards art can change dramatically over time. Pauline Kael used to presume that she only saw a movie once and that was it, no need to see it again. A mistake, I think. Interesting. Best,
