if you have to wait SEVERAL seasons for a show to be worth watching, what's the point at all?

2018-11-16 16:42:08 +0000 UTCI must be desperate, but even if I'm living in France I saw all the films you thought no one would even know about (The Endless, Support the Girls, etc.). And I agree with you, except for one : American Animals. It took me half an hour or so to get into it, but after that I found it deeply moving and a beautiful allegory of adolescence. And Barry Keoghan is amazing. Probably the best thing I saw this year. Anyway greetings from France and keep up the good work. Oh, and you should check out The Legacy of a Whitetail Deerhunter, it's pretty good. I'd love to know what you think of it.

2018-09-28 16:54:40 +0000 UTCBabylon Berlin was outstanding though. On Bret's mentioning it in the spring I gave it a chance in August and was hooked after five minutes. On finishing the sixteen episodes I went back and watched it all over again, sometimes viewing four or five episodes each day. It's a remarkable achievement. I was completely devastated by what happens at the end of the second-last episode and hardly even had the heart to finish it up. But boy, it really comes through.

2018-09-28 14:14:56 +0000 UTCThe problem with The Handmaid's Tale and Mr. Robot is that you're coming in on the wrong season. Everything but the last was tedious and boring, Don't worry about not being caught up on the storyline, the introductory scenes before the show will tell you everything you need to know.

2018-09-27 02:53:24 +0000 UTCI wonder what Brett thinks about British television. I recently watched happy valley and really enjoyed it and peep show is one of my favourite shows of all time? Would love to know if he’s seen these.

2018-09-24 12:19:28 +0000 UTCEthno-nationalism is not worth debating because there is no idea beyond domination of others. If it could be defeated in open debate we wouldn't have had the 20th century we did.

2018-09-23 18:51:54 +0000 UTCI have heard of those movies (maybe just 90%) and I did watch all of Red Oaks and anything by David Simon. But I do agree that there is too much out there and not a lot of quality content.

2018-09-22 03:51:09 +0000 UTCEnjoyed this so much. Thanks. Anyone have any thoughts on where to start with Kushner's books? I'm curious about "The Flamethrowers", so I guess I will at least try that one.

2018-09-21 16:53:59 +0000 UTCOld story: Stalin talked to the heads of Soviet film production, asking how many films were produced a year. About forty or fifty, they said. And how many of those are masterpieces, asked Stalin. About two or three per year, they answered. Then why don't you produce only those two or three?, responded Stalin.

2018-09-20 23:24:58 +0000 UTCEasily the best podcast you've done so far, Bret. PLEASE interview more intelligent writers like Kushner and have more casts about literature and writing. The quality of your monologue normally throws into unflattering relief the inarticulation or the dullness of a lot of the guests, whereas here, it's the premium quality of the monologue AND the discussion with Kushner that throws other guests into the shade. Top class stuff. Well done!

2018-09-20 19:40:35 +0000 UTCI think it's time for the culture to come to the realization that 95% of Netflix's shows suck horribly.
