We Want Your Opinion

Gold Members,

We filmed a couple of episodes of The BEE Podcast this season and we cut it down into a half hour show.

We'd love it if you guys would take a watch and let us know what you think of this format and if you'd like to see more content like this.

Please leave comments!

Thanks,

Todd

I'd watch, but I much prefer long audio to short video.

John Webb

Hi Todd, definitely more ‘video’ content - great stuff , best Marc

Marc Hughes

Yes please

I like this a lot actually. I would still listen to the full podcast via the audio on my phone whenever and then probably come back and watch these just to retouch on the main topics of each episode. What I would really love to see is Bret answering our Platinum member questions in the same format where he reads each question off of his laptop and then answers them and then discuss is that with the guest. That would be awesome.

Joel Dameron

Good stuff.

Scott Bradley

It's an interesting feature and being able to see your and the guests facial expressions adds a lot. For me though I tend to interact with podcasts while my eyes and hands are occupied i.e. When I'm working, driving, cooking, or cleaning. I don't think I'd want to blindly pay 5 dollars an episode automatically like I do with the audio, but it would be cool to be able to purchase this option a la carte on a per episode basis.

Jason Petrofsky

I don’t think it’s needed but it was cool and could be fun to have that option. But I connect more with the pod thru audio alone

What I mean to say instead of silver and gold, I mean Platinum and gold get to have the videos, but having as much as bret as we can is a good thing.

Louis Bruno

I think longer is better. At least for the gold and silver tiers. That might be good if you don't want to listen to the podcast, but maybe you could offer that as a free download if you are on the go and aren't able to watch it without wi-fi access. I enjoy bret when he discusses all the topics that he cares about, and he inspires me in lots of ways. Just want to make sure we all can enjoy Bret any way we can.

Louis Bruno

Very interesting!

I really like the idea of an unedited podcast either with video or just plain audio. If it goes more than 2-3 hours so be it.

Tobin

I loved this uncut interview. I think an un trimmed version of the show would be great sort of like harmontown as an example. I'd hate to be torn between needing to hear the uncut podcast or watching the video first since either way you're re-listening as is the nature of doing the edited down version. Maybe if the video came out first and then the podcast had a clear time marker transition to a section of all the stuff not in the video? but without needing to skim through. Not sure how that works with the algorithms. I think that the tv being on was distracting in the corner of the guests frame... there may be an opportunity there to just put your podcast logo on the screen in lieu of just shutting it off. Thanks team! Love that you're working on ways to expand this great podcast!

It was a lot of fun to watch the guest's reactions as Bret read the monologue. I agree there's a lot of value to podcasts and how they weave in to day-to-day life, but if there were options for both video and podcasts, I would consume both depending on what was going on. I tend to listen to some of these episodes multiple times, as each new listen reveals a new perspective or thought that I missed previously. I could see my husband being much more likely to sit down and watch an episode with me as with the podcast, I have to wait for a road trip to share the experience with him. I say there's room for it all! Something that I thought of while I watched this was the format of Letterman's new show on Netflix. He cuts back and forth between the guest and then other footage that was shot elsewhere. I'm not saying Bret needs to go tour Oxford with Malala, but in since there's so much history and information in what's discussed during these episodes, it would be cool to cut the video version with references tying back to the actual conversation. Thanks for all your work Bret, Todd and Adam!

I really liked it but I’m a little biased.

Rob Motto

It's nice witnessing you and your guests talk in video form but i'd rather either watch an uncut video or just keep listening to the gold podcasts. Also the edits are pretty noticeable and distracting but that's just my opinion.

Sebastian Mittelman

This is great. I loved finally getting to see how it’s set up and recorded. I’d easily watch the whole podcast each week. Also need both of those framed posters in my house

Sean Michael

Video is cool and a good avenue to branch out into but personally I prefer listening to podcasts. I hope with wherever it's going the audio option will still be available.

Calum Hughes

the video looks great, but personally I prefer more longform audio interviews as I totally understand the extra expense of making a video that long with editing etc.

Sam Willis

Good stuff. I'd like to see more video content myself. Great for the non-verbal cues for both Bret and Jeff. The TV running in the background was a bit of a distraction.

Brad Coy

When I watched Jeff’s episode, i had the same feeling of when I’ve watched some Stern interviews ( from recent years, not the E! show). It’s different. It is a different experience. But I have to say a better experience. It’s like watching a video of grilling a steak vs actually cooking a steak. There is more depth to the experience. I love it and would love to see FULL interviews taped. Along with some pre and post clips. Guest coming into the “studio”... maybe a short “post interview interview”. I dunno. I just love the video aspect of the interviews as well. The Van Der Beek interview may come off as more genuine with a video. I felt he was being guarded and plastic.

David Eugene

Love the extra behind the scenes content.

Michael Fellows

I thought it was good. I liked it. It could be developed into some sort of talk show. Why not ? And uhm...I need the American Psycho poster.

Kristian Rasmussen

I liked it. Smart putting it at 30 mins. Kinda fun watching the conversation unfold. Love the podcast. Keep up the great work

Ryan Hyde

Video is fun, but not essential. So much of the joy of podcasts is listening to them and letting your eyes relax. Or listening to them, while making dinner after work. Shit like that. I prefer the audio, with occasional opportunities for live video, like the test you guys did the other week. I thought it was especially cool to see Bret answer questions live, and would be into more of that. Any kind of interactive content is dope. Anyway, thanks. You guys rock!

Kyle Kouri

Love love love. PLEASE do entire shows like this!
