I love it when an epic ending comes together. I mean, I do love lampshading a very anti-climactic close, like when you finish off the big final demon with chip damage, but when things end on big exciting ballsy action beats, well there's nothing like it.
I love a moment that forces the players to think creatively. A movie often doesn't carefully arrange puzzles because the writer has as much control of the protagonist as they do of everything else. Tremors actually did work pretty well at shuffling us to different solutions to fighting the monsters. There's a real challenge to fighting something with armor. I'm sure if Jon was on the party he would have lined everyone up behind a gatling gun that was sitting at the Gummers' and just funneled all the worms into his deathtrap, but thinking in the moment in character, and not being Jon, there was a real sense of panic. Of damn, these things are tricky. The combination of armor and them just learning enough to not be lured the same way twice, that made us really have to think on our feet.
Anyway, that's it for Tremors. Last Unicorn coming up next. I'm GMing that one and have some tricks up my sleeve. Can't wait.
