but to play devil's advocate...Yuan is what likely about 2 years older than Lili, and TBH Qian did literally raise Yuan as well, literally as brother and sister, blood or not. So the comparison to S/L makes the Q/Y of it all not so bad and easier to stomach for some otherwise

2024-04-19 23:34:58 +0000 UTCI'm just now catching up, but my guess would be they wrote in SanPang/Lili as a comparison to Qian/Yuan as a way to make viewer who were queezy about Qian/Yuan relationship would see S/L as a worse case scenario and therefore making Q/Y more bearable? Cause let's be honest, the situation of a male/female version of Q/Y is def seen differently in the eyes of many though, my 2cents is gender shouldn't matter if you have issue w/this particular trope. It def makes for interesting drama! SanPang is also a jackass for not telling Qian especially how much he dinged Yuan for liking Qian, and Qian never even went as far with Yuan as SanPang did with Lili

It is rooted in homophobia because how is one okay and the other isn't? It's worse because Lili is younger so who knows how long that friend has been creeping on the younger sister. San Pang deserved an ass beating.

That preview next week please don’t let it be the way they showed it. I will be crying my eyes out! San Peng you ran you F’ing mouth about their relationship and how it didn’t seem right because how they knew each other but you turned around and started F’ing your best friend sister that you grew up with. First double standard and second as a man you should have had a talk with your friend about your intentions. Ugghhhh see ya next week

San got into Yuan business and told Qian that Yuan likes him as more then a brother, when Yuan was keeping it to himself. Made this big argument that they were brothers and couldn't be together but San goes and date Lili behind Qian back even though they also had a brother/sister relationship. Then to top it off everybody trying to convince Qian to forgive and forget because they're adults like he didn't send his brother to another country because San was in his ear telling him that kind of brother/brother relationship would be wrong. Or am I tripping?

2024-04-07 08:40:00 +0000 UTC36:16 i actually think homophobia (somewhat) may be the issue - according to the timeline same sex marriage law just got approved so people are still coming to terms with it perhaps. additionally, this San pang - Lili couple was not in the original book i think. So it was written in just for the show version, did not stand the test of time as compared to the novel i guess

I totally agree with you Nolan about the whole Lili and San situation. I can’t stand San 😑, he has the nerve to make Yuan feel bad for liking Qian when he over here dating Lili. Like she is way younger than Yuan and it’s just really gross to me that he thinks it’s ok to date Lili. When he watched her grow up it’s really disturbing. I really enjoyed how Yuan was flirting with Qian it’s was so cute I can’t wait to see them be together 🥰

2024-04-06 22:11:43 +0000 UTCSan Pang had a lot to say about Yuan liking Qian. However, he is hiding his relationship with Lilli, who is younger than Yuan and he technically helped raise her. So, the argument he presented about Yuan can't be with Qian because they're "brothers" makes no sense when he had a brother/sister bond with Lilli as well.
