Character Bios: Dax and Inaki

This won't be how I do all my character bios, but I did want to test out how I wanted to format talking about worldbuilding.

To begin with, I should say that Legacy (the name of the story and universe the story takes place--you'll hear me refer to it as that from hereon out) spans a very long time. The main story focuses on Dax, beginning when he's a teenager. He isn't human however so his lifespan is a lot longer. On average, Creatii live around 300 to 400 years if they aren't killed some other way (which is just as likely). On average, I would say Creatii live 200 years. Not as many get to live into old age as one would hope.

That being said, Creatii consider those around 50-70 as being adults (in a legal sense). Physically, different families and people age at different rates. I'll get into that on a species specific post. As an adult, you are allowed to get married, run for government positions, officially own your own property, etc. The kind of stuff that happens when people are no longer considered minors. That isn't to say that things don't unofficially happen or there aren't exceptions to the rule (Dax and Inaki being prime examples of that), but it's how things generally work out.

Dax and Inaki meet when they're legal adults. Before then, they've interacted some during an earlier arc in Legacy, however Inaki was a teenager and involved in something somewhat separate to Dax's story. That being said, y'all have gotten enough background info to see their current bios. I'm considering when Dax is an adult the "current" time in the story right now.

Name: Dalik'in Cyphos of the Creatik Clan

Bio/Other info

Dalik'in, more commonly known as Dax by friends and family, is the youngest son of the Creatik chieftain. He served in the Creatik military for twenty years, though much of it was spent stationed as a kind of intelligent within a semi-autonomous Irean Order. Afterwards, he became an ambassador, a job which he still holds. Due to the nature of his work, he often travels outside of the clan. He played an integral part during the civil wars that occurred east of the clan's territory when he was in his later forties and fifties. He suffered immense loss however and has become a bit more distant and reclusive to his family in the past decade.

He had originally been (unofficially) betrothed to a man from the Ai-Wu clan, but because of said civil wars, the engagement was broken off. In the coming few years afterwards he and struck a deal with a man from the Raan clan to officially marry if there were no others they intended to do so with. This was more for the two of them to be excused from social functions and marriage meetings than anything else. This gave Dax more time to himself, especially to travel.

However, a letter from his brother Helek brings him back to his hometown. Helek has a friend named Inaki who he wants Dax to meet. Urgently.

Name: Inaki Ka'nos of the Valtan Clan

Aliases/Nicknames: Ina

Sex: Male

Gender: cis male

Species, Race or ethnicity: Creatii, Valtik

Current Age: 64

Bio/Other info

Inaki is the only son of a well-known Valtan family. They have been in the service of the Creatik for generations so relations between them and the neighboring clan are quite good. Though he serves in his clan's army, he trained extensively under the Creatik. Now as a general, he trains Creatiks and Valtans alike. Unlike Dax, he was not a part of the civil wars, partly because of his relative youth at the time, but also because of a grievous injury that occurred when he was stationed in the peninsula of Portheus. The injury resulted in the amputation of his right arm.

Something integral to know pertaining Inaki's family and the Valtans is that they are infamous for their high-risk magic abilities. Like the Creatik, they can manipulate heat and start fires, however their magic can be much more potent. They can heat their own bodies beyond what a Creatik can, melt metals in their hands, etc. Inaki's family is known to have a particularly strong line of people who are not only much more capable of handling higher temperatures, but also much more likely to die early from overuse. If they aren't careful, or if their powers are just too much for their bodies to contain, they'll quite literally burn themselves alive. Technically this is a risk to all who use temperature manipulating magics (either burning or freezing yourself alive), but Creatik and Valtan are built to handle it. Just not as much as Inaki.

So Inaki has suffered an injury that has taken away his right arm up to his elbow which also causes his body's balance to tip and he's burning alive. There are ways to prevent this however, and they aren't just short term. There's a long term method that has been the reason for his family's service to the Creatik. A ritual that has been used since before the Creatii Alliance was founded, during the time of the founding ancestors of their clans. He doesn't know why, but when Helek, his closest friend, tells him of his brother Dax, he feels as if there is a chance yet.

I have no idea how I should have even begun introducing these two. Dax especially is a bit impossible to talk about since he's relevant in every arc (plus, I'm sure y'all already know some about him). I hope this helps set some stuff up? Their bio and all is right before they get married and they're more acquaintances than friends.
