If you are wondering about CATC, basically I'm working on a big revamp and it isn't ready yet. I actually did more work on CATC this month than Versus even though it may not seem that way with the patches.

Basically, I am currently in the process of converting CATC (back) into a rogue-lite game where the player starts with a fresh run each time. This is because I want to change the game to be more focused on builds, status effects, grabs and more crazy stuff. However, if the player gets to keep the cards they found, then it indirectly puts a cap on how strong certain effects can be.

For example, lets say the Domination card gets changed into a near-permanent mind-control effect, then the potential of the player gets 6+ copies of Domination card is too great and will likely trivialize the game from the point onwards. With fresh runs however, Domination can be a strong card, balanced by the fact that the player maybe only gets access to 1 copy of Domination per run.

The second motivation is that I want to introduce "perma-death" into the game and add the potential for the player to encounter past characters during a run. For example, maybe during a previous run the character A went missing in action. Then on the next run, the player may encounter character A again, either as a rescue target, or perhaps even as a hostile enemy.

Those being said, I am probably going to release an in-between CATC patch. It will be mostly for including the new features introduced in versus mode such as Import/Export, and some changes like making the starting characters having a fixed personality rather than a randomized one.

I LOVE the idea of characters being captured or corrupted and becoming converted by the enemy. I agree that it will limite the cheese potential of CATC as, right now, it's easy to cheese stuff with the right cards. I love the new attachments by the way!

Without any real Info or a build to test, it´s hard to say what to think about a rogue lite, but i absolutely can see it working out with H-content etc. After all rogue lite should mean you do get some perma upgrades and stuff helping you to get further each run without making you totally op at the same time, even so i personally don´t think there would be anything wrong with getting totally op after a few runs, after all you always could start fresh right? Or there could be something like traps that steal your op card/s, reduce your max health/lust etc. Or there could be curses that give you negative effects, what i am saying is there are a lot of ways to keep the Player from getting op, aside from just death :P

What if do your best (in a particular run) is utilizing the H content, grabs and etc?

I need more info, but currently CATC "Full Remake" MkIII sounds terribly scary. Usually rogue-like/lite means a do your best and ends up subtracting from H content unless that's already the best possible way because the penalty on a lose may be too high. Sort of ironic that it pretty much means re-converting the game into a puzzle type. [Still trying to guess what happened with projectile behavior in SR]
