Britainology 36: Absolutely Fabulous (feat. Phoebe Roy)

Now unlocked to the $5 tier!

We're extremely happy to welcome friend of the show Phoebe Roy on to discuss the 1990s sitcom Absolutely Fabulous (only the first 3 seasons are canonical), its enduring appeal, and how it got a lot of stuff right before people even had the words to describe the phenomena involved.

Comments

Tovfly said exactly what I was gonna comment, represent staph let’s flats and Derry girls! I guess a different question is how much the BBC’s programming specifically has got worse

Also, Phoebe's completely right about how the budgets and opportunities are basically gone from TV comedy, but not enjoying a UK comedy since PhoneShop? Granted there haven't been many, but it just sounds like you haven't tried. This Country? Chewing Gum? Stath Lets Flats? Derry Girls? Ghosts? Detectorists? Hell there's been This Time with Alan Partridge since.
