"Shadows on the Zodiac" My latest 300 megapixel composition, featuring the Moon and Mars among interplanetary dust.

This is a highly detailed photo of the moon (captured during a live stream last night- check my IGTV), set against a simulated band of zodiacal light: the interplanetary dust that is illuminated by the sun. Since it exists in the same space as the Moon and Mars, they cast shadows seemingly against nothing.

Really, you can't. It has to be done with HDR blending. This is what a raw image looks like: https://twitter.com/AJamesMcCarthy/status/1405241208226467840?s=20 I properly expose for surface, then expose for "Earthshine", then expose for stars. then blend the whole mess together in photoshop.

This looks wild! How can I properly expose my image to get the dark half of the moon like yours? I can get good detail of only the lit side
