This is an HDR blend of thousands of shots. One to capture the scene and colors of the sunset, and a separate scope and camera with a longer focal length running at hundreds of FPS to capture the details on the moon without atmospheric distortion. Whether or not it is considered a composite is up to the audience, but among astronomy circles this is not considered a composite, since it is not a false scene and the techniques used are widely practiced among astrophotographers.
