The big breakthrough that happened this month is right there at the top: Until recently, any and all cutscene-specific sprites for the player wouldn't work without disabling customization, due to how the player's sprites are stored, and in the case above, preventing the palette swapping from applying to Verla. It was... a pretty big ordeal to get working, but I'm glad it's there!
