Pantone Color of the Year 2023: Viva Magenta
Added 2023-11-27 01:43:31 +0000 UTCIt's that time of year where I draw a design for Pantone's Color of the Year again! I don't know if this is the final version yet, but if I change anything I'll update this post with the latest images.
This year's color was Viva Magenta and I wanted to do something inspired by fireworks and celebration. This design may look a little grand and somber for such a celebratory color - this was intentional as I think this is a good stopping point for the Pantone Series.
To be honest, the series isn't fun for me anymore. Every new Pantone Color of the Year has been less and less inspiring for me, and it's honestly a miracle I came up with something because I've been struggling all year to figure out a design. As this is my 10th design in the Pantone series which means 10 years of doing this, I think this is a good number of designs to call it quits.
I still love the idea of designing fashion inspired by colors and I think I want to continue that in the form of the Alphabet Series, as I can choose colors that inspire me more than what Pantone has been offering. And I'm totally down to return to the Pantone Series again in the future, because I think it will be easier for me to design multiple years at once.
But I'm glad that for now, I get to end on something sparkly and grand!
