Slave Leia Planning - a WIP

I thought it would be fun to document making Leia’s Slave Costume (Star Wars) on here!

I will continue posting as normal too for my tiers, but hoping the process will be interesting and cool for any of you that are into this stuff :3

I’m going to make the costume primarily from EVA foam and worbla, which is a thermoplastic that will be molded and sculpted using a heat gun.

I started by gathering reference images and then making simple doodles that capture the main shapes of the garments. The drawings will act as a diagram to note my measurements.

I’m going to look at where the original bikini sits on Carrie Fisher as I measure where I want the pieces will sit on my body, filling in the measurements on the little doodles I made as I go. I’ll also keep track of any proportional notes I might want to reference.

Once I have all the measurements, I will use them to scale straight-on images of the original bikini to size and trace them in order to make a rough pattern for my main pieces. Translating it to 3D will require some adjustments and likely a few pattern drafts.
