General Energy: Five of Coins & The Hierophant

The Five of Coins brings with it scarcity and poverty and unfortunately doesn’t offer any solution to the problem other than learning to do more with less. This card is all about suffering and the rough times associated with losing your resources. Situations like this place us under immense pressure because there just isn’t physically enough stuff to meet our basic needs.

When we are dealing with something like a loss of a job or our health it can be hard to reach out and ask for help because of the underlying shame. The Five of Coins wants us to throw a pity party, and then reject any and all help that comes our way. It isn’t the most supportive of cards and the only way to move through this is to wait it out.

The Hierophant is one of the more traditional figures in the tarot, and also one of the most strict. While his counterpart, the High Priestess, is focused on the occult and the power of intuition, he is focused on set principles, organized religion and intense study.

The hierophant acts as the “spokesperson for the divine”. He asks that we search outside of ourselves for answers. He reminds us that there is nothing wrong with asking for help and looking to an expert for proper guidance.

Who in your life can you go to for wisdom? Sometimes the hierophant appears as a religious leader, but he can easily manifest in ‘everyday figures’. Maybe you have a friend who always gives great advice? Or a teacher who showed you a new approach to problem solving? Seek them out.

TAURUS

General Energy: Seven of Elixirs  & Strength

The Seven of Elixirs brings us into the world of dreams and fantasy. So many possibilities exist here, but you are spending so much time wondering the outcome of each, that you never actually settle on one.

Getting lost in delusion is also a concern with this card. Your thinking has become distorted. Your head says one thing, your heart another and balancing your emotions with reason is the only thing that will help you now come to a clear consensus.

When we think of strength, we often think of brute force and aggression, but in the tarot this card is here to teach us that sometimes the most effective form of power is quiet resolve and a calm demeanour.

Strength asks us to have courage in facing our fears or when we come up against obstacles. You have the ability to endure all of life’s problems, you just need to show a lot of patience and understand that grace and dignity come from within.

Now is the perfect time to reflect on your values and assess what in your life needs to change. Perhaps you have a bad habit that needs breaking or you want to incorporate new mindful practices in your life (exercise routine, meditation, etc).  Your ability to do anything right now is heightened.

GEMINI

General Energy: Eight of Elixirs  & Two of Coins

The Eight of Elixirs hits us with a feeling of melancholy. We have had something comfortable come to an end, and we are taking the first steps in leaving it behind. It’s coming to terms with that ending that is making us feel empty and sad. We know the direction we are heading in now is better for us, but that doesn’t make it any less painful.

The eight of elixirs reminds us that we have outgrown something. Whether it is a job, or relationship or destructive behaviour, we know deep down it is time to let it go. The journey you are about to embark on is greater than you realize.

The Two of Coins is all about working towards achieving harmony for all aspects of your life. Finding balance between money, health, emotions and personal relationships is challenging right now, but a necessary practice in order to be well rounded.

Finances may seem to fluctuate so try not to be so overindulgent. As quickly as you get money in, it leaves, and that adds one more ball you’re trying to keep in the air. This juggling act is only temporary, so keep your focus and you will eventually fall into a good rhythm.

Creative solutions to your situation is a huge benefit of this card. You may try a new approach to a problem that you wouldn’t normally have if things were stagnant and it will be very successful for you.

CANCER

General Energy: Wheel of Fortune  & Ten of Elixirs

Destiny is about to step in when we are gifted with the Wheel of Fortune, so it’s best if you just go with the flow! This card is all about the cyclical nature of life and the four themes we deal with on a day to day basis.

These themes are represented by the aces of the minor arcana: blades - mental matters, coins - material matters, elixirs - emotional matters, rods - creative matters.

Where the wheel plans on stopping we can’t be certain, but it is generally considered a positive omen and points to an uplifting situation. However, it does have the ability to return our karma to us, so you may need to take a moment and think about if there is anyone who you may have wronged.

The Ten of Elixirs is a very positive card to receive in a reading. There is a sense of comfort and harmony surrounding you and your loved ones. A stable home life, enough money for your needs (and then some), and someone special to share it all with.

The future looks bright in terms of relationships with this card. Any past conflicts are forgiven and unconditional love is possible because of the mutual respect you share.

The past is calling and it won’t stop until we acknowledge it. Judgement is all about acceptance and forgiveness. When we understand that some things can’t be changed, we are able to finally move on to bigger and better things.

The Judgement card wants us to stop wearing masks and to be our authentic and imperfect selves. What makes us great is our resilience in the face of our toughest trials. Our battle scars contain the map to our future.

Rebirth is the process of reflecting on our choices and understanding how they led us to where we are now. You are about to be resurrected into the next version of yourself.

SCORPIO

General Energy: The Devil & Nine of Rods

The Devil is all about the destructive behaviours that keep us tied up in bondage. This card carries with it the seven deadly sins: envy, gluttony, greed, lust, pride, sloth, and wrath. These parts of life are messy, but something we all go through.

It’s important to acknowledge that these circumstances are more often than not, self inflicted, but The Devil can also point to an abusive person in your life, so be sure to keep your guard up.

With The Devil the only way to be set free is to break these patterns and begin the healing process, but It can be hard to pull ourselves away from the things that give us instant gratification. Remind yourself that you deserve nothing but the best, and if you do the hard work now, the payoff in the end will be great.

The Nine of Rods appears when we are feeling like we can’t possibly go on. The ground beneath us looks cluttered with obstacles and each step feels shaky, but this is all an illusion: you are actually on a solid path, but are missing the confidence to be surefooted.

Now is the time to stand your ground and not make any major changes. Your determination and inner strength will get you through this period of confusion. Being under attack is never comfortable, regardless of the source, but don’t give up. You have come so far and owe it to yourself to finish what you have started.

CAPRICORN

General Energy: Ace of Coins & Justice

The Ace of Coins is a universal favourite when it comes to Tarot reading as it represents the raw material energy that exists in the universe. Abundance is steadily flowing which brings good luck to you in the area of money and health.

Money will be consistent so you have the funds to pay for what you need. It is also a good omen for your health and it should be at an all time high or on the road to improving if you’ve recently had a setback.

New beginnings are on the horizon and the Ace of Coins is like having the Midas touch. Whatever you put your effort into, will reap very real rewards, so it is important to stay focused and continuously plant the seeds of success.

The arrival of the Justice card means we are searching for answers to a problem or we have a life altering decision to make. Both our head and our heart need to carry equal weight in these situations.

Whether we are settling our debts or creating our own code of morals, all of our actions determine where we end up. Honesty and fairness are going to take us much further than lying and cheating ourselves and others.

Justice also points to legal matters because it rules over law and order. Everything from court cases to divorce papers to a job contract are covered by this powerhouse card. And try not to worry because it tends to be a good omen - unless of course you’ve broken the law (universal or human).

General Energy: Ace of Rods & King of Blades

The Ace of Rods represents raw creative energy in the universe. It is passion in its purest state, and can leave you feeling excited about your future. Things appear so promising, that your good mood spreads to everyone around you, so you may see your social calendar start to fill up because people want you near.

Trust your gut and don’t be afraid to act boldly and to take risks. The fire of the rods suit wants to spread, you have to move quickly or you may just lose the spark.

As a person: The King of Blades is a very intellectual person with a commanding yet calm presence. Even though he is objective and fair, he can be intolerant of emotional people. Use your intellect and gift of reason to remove obstacles and negative influences in your life. Think about what you would cut out of your life if given the opportunity and then take control and get it done.

PISCES

General Energy: The High Priestess & Seven of Rods

The High Priestess is one half of the divine feminine archetype in the tarot (the other is The Empress). She represents the natural instinct and intuition that we all carry inside of us.

The High Priestess loves to give us messages via our subconscious. Pay attention to gut reactions and to dreams in order to find answers.

She really wants us to be in touch with the spiritual aspect of our lives, so when she appears you are being asked to embark on a spiritual quest in order to unlock the secrets surrounding you.

The Seven of Rods insists that you do not give up in the face of adversity and challenges. You are an experienced warrior and can overcome anything with bravery and confidence. Being a passive player in your own life does not lead to success. Remember that you have the advantage against your foes because of your previous victories.

This card may appear when you are feeling drained and unsure about your next step. You feel pulled in too many directions and need to draw on your past experiences to formulate a plan. Do not hide from these feelings. Acknowledge and then release them. Put on your game face and get to work.
