Patron Reward Ideas
Added 2025-02-04 16:31:21 +0000 UTCHey all, I'd like to ask what sort of rewards you'd like to see for contributing to the Patreon. I've been wracking my brain and short of a profile badge, your own forum space, and maybe early access to some features in the future, I can't really thing of any other things to offer you guys to thank you for the contributions to the site.
So please, if you have any ideas for rewards, I'd love to hear them. I'm trying to grow the Patreon just a bit more to hit my target goal of $500 a month. At that level of support, the server costs and id verification costs would leave enough left over to verify about 150 users per month.
Additionally, a very kind community member has offered to match the costs of the id verification service for a little while here at the beginning of things to help us get more users through the door, so to speak.
Let me hear what you guys think, please, even if it's not related to this, I'm always happy to hear feedback from you guys!

Sorry I haven't been responsive to this, both due to being busy and clueless. As pointed out, a reward is not the main incentive to contribute here, at least not for me; and as much as I'd be honored by some visible acknowledgement, at the same time I don't want to appear pompous by wearing a special tag. But I understand your approach of attracting more supporters, so yeah, transparency should do most of the trick; seeing the direct effect and use of contributing should be the main incentive, rather than buying oneself some petty privileges.

2025-02-06 20:55:55 +0000 UTCI think aesthetics could be a good incentive Even if it's something simple. I loved having Coiledfist's theme on a neon green instead of the default deep red. Know some people really like the rings around their PFP over on Discord too. Having a handful to choose from would be cool too. Maybe having a special watermark on the background of your profile page could be good too.

2025-02-06 20:53:21 +0000 UTCYeah, that has been the general consensus among everyone supporting is just “The site is enough” which, on the one hand is awesome and makes me very happy, but it doesn’t give me much I can use to attract more folks to meet the goal.

2025-02-06 20:44:40 +0000 UTCAbsolutely agree about it being a plus and not walling people off. Also, what would you see on the Supporters section in the sidebar? A list of supporters? Or maybe something else? I’ve been wanting to be more transparent about how much things are costing to run so that people know the Patreon money is going to the right things, maybe that’d be a good thing to put there alongside any of the supporters that want a shoutout!

2025-02-06 20:32:06 +0000 UTCI think having a dedicated section for "Supporters" on the sidebar would be a good start to brainstorm. Regardless of what it is, it should be something that offers a plus but doesn't wall any functions.
