We’re Getting Somewhere

We still have a long way to go, but I have the head fully assembled now! Still need to glue all of the stand (and internal parts) together and paint the head, of course- but it’s cool to see a little preview of the size and everything! It’s roughly 4.75 feet (thats about 1/3 the height of a standard British double-decker bus, for all you non-Americans).

I feel like I’ve been printing for a million years.

Alright, this PEZ dispenser project is coming along, but WE. ARE. STILL. PRINTING.

The dispenser’s head is basically done, and the stand is like 2/3 done… So we’re almost there. I tried to print everything (except for the head) in its final color to reduce painting, but I ran out of some colors for minor pieces and don’t have the patience to wait for new spools to arrive.

At this point, I highly doubt anyone will attempt to print a custom PEZ dispenser at this scale (fee...

Experimenting with Fuzzy Skin

I wanted certain areas of my print to have a rougher texture, but not the whole print. I’m not sure if I’ve seen anyone else do this, but I’m using some overlapping models as a mask to restrain the fuzzy skin effect in Cura to a specific area- the result looks pretty cool! Hoping this comes out with the right effect.

P.S. Please ignore the faintly visible infill pattern through the walls- it upsets me as much as it upsets you.

This is a big project😅

It’s taken me WAY too long to model all of this up, but I think it’s all functionally accurate. I’m excited to release these files for you guys so you can make your own! Thanks for all your support!

Does size matter?

So I'm still modeling up my next project, and I've run into a big decision that needs to be sorted out before I can proceed.

Would a theoretical human-scale PEZ dispenser be scaled up so that the PEZ head is the size of a human head? Or would the whole dispenser be scaled up to full human height? (See image)

I was hoping that there wouldn't be that huge of a differe...

Upcoming Project…

This is how you know I have a big project coming up… I don’t even know for certain if this will be enough spools of filament- we’ll see. Maybe it will, maybe it won’t. Still finishing up design work, so time will tell. More BTS details coming soon! Might even have a poll for a very big decision for this project….

200% Scale Furby Project Files

Oh boy, was this a project. I wasn't sure if I'd even be able to make this happen, but here we are! I've included the files for absolutely everything you'd need, including cutouts for the faux sensor and eye images. Watching my video should give you a good understanding of the assembly, but I'll answer any questions anyone has. Completely recreating this project in full is not for the faint of heart, but if dummy Austin can do it, I think most people could too. There's way too much to cover i...

The Merch Store is Up!

You wonderful people get to see it all first- I might add in a few extra things down the road, but no promises! I hope you guys like these designs!

Yesssssssss!!!!!!!

I’m so proud of how this has turned out. This is already big steps ahead of the masks I made back in October last year. I’ll be posting a sneak peek of the full assembly soon!

P.S. Please ignore the wires hanging down behind the eyes. There is absolutely nothing nefarious going on.

Furby Part 2: Electric Boogaloo

Terrible, terrible things are happing, guys. So yes, we’re doing another cursed Furby project with Evan & Katelyn- and this one might be one of my most cursed projects yet.

And between you and me, I have no idea what I’m doing. I’m absolutely winging this as I go. Please don’t tell anyone.

First Part Done!

Got all of my projects mounted on the wall (with room for future projects)! Just gonna put a few more things up here and there, and we’ll be done!

Started the wall mounts!

Just put the first coat of paint on these custom wall mounts I’m building to display my projects. Going more for function over beauty here, BUT the mount I’ve made for the croc hat looks pretty dang cool.

Little Update

Sorry for keeping you guys in the dark for so long…. and for the messy office behind me! A large portion of the project I’ve been teasing is finished, but I’m gonna have to put it on hold for a little while. Trust me, it’ll be worth the wait! Expect 1-2 videos before you see that. This week, I plan to push out a smaller video to help make up for skipping last month. I wanna throw a bunch of little things all into one video:

1. A brief office tour, showing my tools and setup for...

Coming soon…

I am so excited for you guys to see what I’ve been working on this month. It’s still got a ways to go, but this has been the most fun I’ve had with a project in a long time. Perhaps a bit too ambitious, but I’m hoping that the effort will be worth it. Thank you guys for your patience- sorry for the lack of updates!

Shirts are coming!

I'm so excited to let you guys know that I've got shirts coming soon! I've been working on 5 total designs, and I'm pretty happy with how they've turned out. They're not available for purchase quite yet, but I will post a link here (and maybe a discount code!) when they're up!
Also, sorry for the lack of posts this month- I'm working on some secrets right now that I can't quite share yet. That video might not get posted this month, so I'll see if I can work on a smaller project in the mean...

Croc Hat Project Files

For those of you wackos who also want to wear a shoe on their head! I've included just about everything here- including the jibbitz I designed and my logo sticker that goes on the side buttons. This fits my head- and should fit most average size heads (I think...?), but you can measure your head and scale this accordingly if needed. Just remember, if you're scaling up/down the main hat, you'll need to scale all the buttons and jibbitz by the same ratio. Oh- and if you want to paint the jibbit...

Video Game Head Project Files

All necessary files if you want to attempt this yourself- would recommend trying to texture it with your own face, but you're welcome to just use mine if you really wanted to. I've included a "flap" model that I printed later to help stabilize the connection points, but they aren't 100% necessary. Files that end with an "M" include the magnet holes. Sorry if my file naming is confusing.

Furby Mask Project Files

This is all of the raw files I used for the project- not super organized, but I'll try to explain whats going on. "EvanMask" fits a larger/masculine face, and "KatelynMask" fits a smaller/feminine face. If you want to customize things yourself, use "FurbyMask v8".... but that's a lot more effort than most people are probably interested in. The "Sense" files are meant for cutting out vinyl or something for the sensor section between the eyes. The PNG files for the eyes are meant to be paired w...

Human-Scale Elf on the Shelf

Everything you need to replicate this project- or maybe make a stuffed version... in case you're lonely? Model should fit most heads, but measure yourself to be sure (it uses 8x3mm magnets, so keep that in mind if you rescale it). Body/suit pattern is scaled to the elf's proportions, so it might not fit everyone. I'd recommend doing what I did for this project and just grab a red morph/body suit- it may have been the better option all along. Also, I'm not a clothing pattern designer.... my pa...

It’s FINALLY done!

After having to redo it twice, I’ve finally gotten it to look the way I wanted it to. I told myself in the beginning that I should probably do it a certain way, but thought doing it the easy way would be fine. The easy way was not fine (and surprisingly not easy). Please remind me to just do things the right way in the first place from now on.

I messed it up.

The clear coat didn’t mesh well with the adhesive I used, so I’m stuck with weird patches that are more/less vibrant than the rest. My theory is that the mod podge was able to penetrate the fibers of the paper when it was worked in, but the spray-on clear coat did not have that same penetration, leaving it slightly more hazy. Trying to decide if I should attempt to remove the paper texture and start from ground 0 or just redo everything on top of the failure…………….. I don’t kno...

Practicing…

Working on my next project and needed to practice wireframe modeling…. I’ve done very little of this in this kind of way, so I’m really happy with how it’s going. Almost wish I had filmed this practice one so I could just use it instead of having to do it again😅
