Alrighty. Today was the date of my arraignment. My lawyer showed up and we met finally.
The local judge gave me a new village court date of January 7th (so I could have more time with my lawyer), and decided I was not a flight risk. So being arrested is now off the table! PHEW
So from here forward as long as I make my court dates, I will either be excused entirely or given fines at the end.
I am still upset and tired, but a lot less terrified to my core.
That said, they accidentally mixed another persons files into mine and I nearly got charged with another man's crime (failure to register as a sex offender); luckily it got sorted last minute as the actual guy showed up for that. WOOF.
Man, my luck is all over the board.
