Happy Halloween, everyone. If there's one night made for fantasy, it's this one.ππ₯

The wife and I went a costume contest at our favorite resort. White tail. Itβs a nudist resort. She went as a leaf blower and I was the leaves. We wrote leaf blower on her with body paint and stuck leaves on her hair on her face and body. I wrapped leaf necklace around my neck and waist. Stuck a leaf to my Pe#%*. π€£π€£

This may come across as a little off the mark, but I think you'll see my point by the end. Since my kids became adults, we all stopped dressing up for Halloween. I don't have a problem with it, but we would rather attend a cosplay event with like-minded people, such as the SCA or Comicon, or participate in community theater. But we are not into roleplaying or dressing up for sexual fantasies. At least not physically. My first novel was based on an idea I had for a screenplay. I took two characters that we each would love to play in a movie. She, a medieval Scottish princess, and I, a futuristic space combat pilot. Think Battlestar Galactica meets Brigadoon. I ended up writing the idea out as an entire book. My wife read it, loved it, and became my editor. The discussions that we have about the characters are, in a way, like roleplaying. We often spend our evenings discussing character motivations, story developments, and plot holes in both my work and the shows we watch together, as well as the books we are reading. By the time we get to the bedroom, we are ready to leave the characters behind and focus on just us. Here's my point. Role-playing is great. But like a baker who has no appetite for desserts because they spend all day around them, roleplaying is just not novel enough for us.

Over the years, I've probably done them all: Vampires, Lotharios, Aliens, Starship Captains... One year, the Mrs and I played as Dr. Who and River Song (which will make sense to those who know that series).
This year, as we have for the past few years, we're hosting a costume karaoke Halloween party. "Dead Man's Karaoke Party."
Leaning hard into the theme this year: Grim Reaper.

I'm no good at roleplay. I just be the person I want to be all the time.

My wife loves the vampire. Dressing up full black velvet jacket and pants with small blood on the sleeves. picking her up as she sits alone at a table in a dimly lit cocktail lounge waiting for someone to ravish her!!! Everyone have fun tonight.
