I've always been terrified of the scenario of finding out a woman said "yes" to me when she didn't actually mean it. As a result I've always been cautious to the point of walking away from potential opportunities. It wasn't until I was 40 that someone made that nightmare come true for me. She was enthusiastic on the surface, but months after she broke up with she told me she had basically dissociated from the part of herself that wasn't ready yet. I was crushed. (and no, there was no power imbalance involved. I had nothing to offer her except myself.)

Can't argue with that. Not to toot my own horn, but I NEVER looked at women as "targets" or "goal" sex wise. I'm not a saint or perfect, but not a jerk or creep ... Just lame in the sex game, as it were. A label even respectful loners (lone wolves) just learn to live with.
