The wall clock in the living room ticked away the minutes, marking exactly 11 p.m. Outside, the lights of the city's buildings sparkled like a thousand artificial stars, filtering through the windows to bathe the room in a bluish, ghostly glow. At the center of this urban cocoon, the television reigned like a pagan altar, spitting out harsh, multicolored light that danced on the walls of the room. Jonathan, slumped in the middle of the large fabric sofa, was captivated by the screen. His fingers flew over the controller, his narrowed eyes fixed on the virtual adventures of Sexrim, that addictive video game that had engulfed him for several days now. His headphones clamped on his head isolated him from the outside world, letting through only the muffled echoes of cast spells and the epic music that animated the title. Dressed in a simple orange and yellow boxer brief, stretched over his muscular thighs, the fruit of years of physical discipline in rugby, Jonathan embodied the perfect image of the absorbed geek, unaware of the void he was digging around himself [...]
