Western Front in Real Time - into polishing phase

Almost a month has passed since the last post and finally all the data has been compiled. We now have frontline and unit setups for 338 days from the Normandy landings to the final German surrender.

Now it is time to move into a lengthy polishing phase. During it the animation will be made smoother around the edges and numerous glitches will be eliminated.

The quality is absolutely stunning despite your channel having a wise/balanced approach to quality and quantity.

Quality work at its finest. I am amazed at how long could the 226th infantry division of Wehrmacht hold on at Dunkirk. The only thing I would suggest is to add the eastern front towards the end of the war so that we can see what the remaining territories are for the axes.

Or the Israeli wars of 1967 & 1973. The last large armour wars (with the Gulf war of 1991)

Some of the battles are famous - in Caen, The Bulge, Arnheim etc. I thought it would be easy to program a tail - done in many traffic Apps I use.

Adding trails would take quite a lot of time. Instead I will slow the animation down to increase the clarity. As for battles it is difficult to tell without doing a lot of research, where most of the action took place. It is not possible to clearly tell from the concentration of icons. Sometimes the icons are near each other, but without looking into it much deeper it is impossible to tell whether they just held respective positions or there was intense combat. On the map it looks the same.

I will make something with drawings next, because making animations all the time is really taxing. After that it is more open. I think China or Poland.

Wonderful as usual! I agree with YW, a little bit more effects would help understanding. A question: what's next? Have you already decided? I really miss the Italian Campaign and the Desert War, now!!

As I suggested, adding a wake (or 'tails) to each unit, will help to see its movements. Also adding a red color to indicate battles (where units collide), will enhance the maps & help focusing on those areas.

Looking phenomenally interesting. Cannot wait
