Hi (3 Month Hiatus After-Action Report)

Daddy finally came back with the milk. Between today's post and the last post, the Project Zomboid and Doom 3 video was released, and I'm scheduled to crack on with the latest video for this month. So I thought now would be a better time than later to go over some of them with you.

The Project Zomboid video was a pleasant surprise for me. It was a bit out of left-field compared to my other videos and how it was structured and whatnot, but at the very least I had fun collecting the footage with the boys and I think it showed very well in the review. The biggest issue I had with editing and writing for that video was cutting down on excess, because I kept getting tempted to go on a tangent I either didn't find really that compelling or would have otherwise bloated the video too much. Like, I was tempted to stretch out the whole sequence of finding a manual for generators to make it last like a few minutes, but ultimately I kind of cut it down to a comment about it and immediately moved on. Why? Because the footage was literally nothing but all 4 of us shuffling through town, killing zombies and screaming at each other. We'd done this throughout the rest of the playthrough, but nothing really interesting or funny actually happened in between. And I think it worked out better in presenting the evolution of our cohesion as a team.

As for the DOOM 3 video, the biggest problem I faced there was the time. While I did enjoy playing DOOM 3, it wasn't the easiest video for me to script in that it was otherwise a fairly stock 2004 shooter that just so happened to be called DOOM and really fucking dark. It's easily my least favourite video, as a result of a nasty time crunch brought on by life circumstances and my depressive ass dragging the rest of my down with it. Although the video is still a decent watch and has its moments, it is noticeably short, and light on the delicate touches most of my other videos are known for. If I had to pick out my favourite review to compare it to from a technical standpoint, it'd be the Battlefield 1 review. Plus, DOOM 3 wasn't exactly a game my viewers would otherwise be particularly interested in. It is difficult to discern a pattern between the games I've covered and audience engagement between them, given that any number of variables may be at play.

But with that being said, I'm confident the upcoming LA NOIRE review is more than certainly right up my viewers' alley. It's been a while since I've covered a Rockstar game, but I don't think I could have picked a better one, given the sheer level of aspergers radiating through my monitor whenever I play the game. Now, the game is quite long and story-based, and while there is a sizeable amount of core mechanics to cover, LA Noire is otherwise quite a repetitive experience. But I think that'll work in my favour for the video. You'll see when it comes out.

And that's all I have for today's post. It's nice to see you boys sticking around after all this time, I really appreciate it. The next post will come WAY sooner this time, pinky promise. I'll try to make sure life doesn't throw me any more curveballs. Until next time! See you next year lmao
