Glum Rods, Glum Staffs, Glum Wands

We have a whole (sometimes-agonizing) process of rating, editing, re-editing, re-rating, etc until we've whittled things down to a polished list we think is solid and cool. So, plenty of things get left on the cutting room floor.
When working on our recent table Abhorrent Artifacts, we thought up many ideas that--while amusing or interesting--didn't seem quite right for an artifact sort of item. There were enough of these don't-fits that we started assembling them into a new list, which became what we're putting out today: Rods, Staffs, and Wands... all kinds of odd effects that could happen at a distance. Like the table's subtitle says: just aim and shoot.
Another fun factoid: One of my favorite parts of the very old 1st-edition AD&D Dungeon Masters Guide was the treasure tables, percentile rolls for everything from a Potion of Healing to an Apparatus of Kwalish. One of those tables was "Rods, Staves, & Wands". I like to think of our new table as our own whacked-out homage to that.
