2024-09-01 10:07:44 +0000 UTCNice to start with the perspective of the search and rescue group, the coverage on Serafalls fight was good and the shock was definitely there at her loss. Then the subsequent reactions to the presence of Juggernaut Drive was really well written, especially Odins. Shirou taking off to try and save Ise was expected. Man, Sirzechs plan on how to approach this situation would be best in cannon, but in cannon the old Satan faction wasn’t as much of a threat as they are here with Leviathan, so it really sucks that Shirou swore to stay away. The fight between Shirou and JGD started as anticipated, with Shirou using his speed to avoid any hits while realizing how tough it is to damage JGD and trying to find a way to save Issei. The trick with the hundreds of Kanshou and Bakuyas was crazy, normal sword spamming with 200 swords results in only 200 hits, but with Kanshou and Bakuya that keep circling around, it results in so many more hits! It sucks that the best anti dragon Noble Phantasm he has is still just Ascalon, Balmung or Gram would have been much more useful here. Still Ascalon proved helpful in being used augment Kanshou and Bakuyas with some level of anti dragon effects. The boosts felt very oppressive, every time they occurred, especially the time when Shirou nearly had Issei out! Azazel eventually coming in to help was needed especially as JGD started using the experience from previous wielders. Admittedly I wanted Shirou to trace Caliburn to try with it infused with Ascalon aura, but using weapons other than Kanshou and Bakuya locks him out of Last Stardust which is really unfortunate becuase it his versatility has taken a hit if he’s facing an enemy where he needs to be that fast. Shirou and Azazel blocking the Longinus Smasher was an amazing scene, with the perspective from outside and the result shown from within. Then came what I presume is all the worlds evils/Ars Goetia from Shirou but was stopped by Avalon which kicked in thanks to Valis group showing up with Altria. The fight should wrap up nicely from here now with more reinforcements, an Avalon healing Shirou, and Asia back.
