Great chapter! Shifting the tide of the fight with Rias entering the fray and Zolgen pulling out more of his bugs. Rias and Shirous move was a cool highlight of the first half I imagine they’ll probably use it again in the future. For the second half of the fight in the apartment, I never expected UBW to come out! Honestly I thought that would be a much later thing, still cool how ruler was used to accelerate its development! The fight in UBW was mostly Shirou learning his capabilities but was still awesome to finally have him firing swords at his opponent! I hope that he figures out that he can fire swords outside of his reality marble soon! Also I see what you mean about wanting this to be the final chapter of the year, it’s a great fight with a great power unlock! Still I look forward to seeing the next chapters and further developments on all fronts like with the Khaos Brigade, any plans against Aphrodite, and the rating games, also I wonder how far out we are now from the Kyoto trip, that’s gonna be a good arc!

2023-11-15 18:57:20 +0000 UTCYou aren't considering Zolgen's powerset neither from his neither from his opponent's perspectives; going one by one 1- he already proved that dividing his body into several insects wasn't a big deal so pinning him down was impossible, unleashing enough Power of Destruction to kill him also would have a lot of casualities, 2- asking Shirou or Altria to sacrifice inocents or Tsubasa to sacrifice her parents is out of character at best evil at worst, 3- getting more people would end in the same result, the only way to checkmate Zolgen was UBW. Basically or Shirou risked with his Reality Marble or they guy would win and kill a lot of people and then win anyway as he would escape with his prize.

For me, it almost felt like you nerfed the "MC cast" There were just so many ways they should and could have killed him with minimum losses. For example, 1 - Shirou could have distracted him or pinned him down with a ton of low-level Noble Phantasm and made Rias blast him with the power of destruction, 2 they could just all gang up on him and go all out (They would have destroyed a few buildings and kill a few humans but, meh) 3 distract him and call for help. there has to be at least one or two strong people that they are in a alliance with that should come before he could get away or do anything, to be honest. Those are just a few examples that my peanut brain can come up with in under 30 seconds. It also felt like you made Zolgen way stronger than he really is/was. He is at most a low, mid-level Servant (in fate terms at least)

2023-11-13 00:07:47 +0000 UTCOn that we disagree and it may be a question of preference but the thing is this; there was pressure but at the same time it was Shirou going in the situation with a game plan to midigate the risks. Think about what would happen if he didn't got UBW then, Zolgen would either kill hundreds, maybe thousands, and escape with Tsubasa or they would be forced to surrender her either way. In matters of principle, Shirou needed to risk unleashing his Reality Marble then, which was far from a guarantee, or give Zolgen what he wanted. Also I think that it is a little poetic that Altria was the one who unlock it since otherwise he would either need decades, or Archer, to get the thing by himself.

But even tho it is not really that much of an issue with the Reality Marble, it still sucks that it was so anticlimactic. It almost makes Shirou undeserving or "unworthy" of a fully formed Reality Marble (even tho as you said he still has some process to do till he can use his Reality Marble by himself) But because it was so lame, because there was not that much pressure. As I have said in my original comment. It just makes the Reality Marble feel cheap.

I’m not too worried about the Reality Marble reveal cause frankly, I’m sure he can’t use it again with Ruler’s help, and even though he knows the words, and what I’m more excited for is him crafting Tsumukairi Muramasa. Other than learning Triple Linked Crane Wings, getting more NP’s, or even summoning Archer through Olga Marie’s thing, there’s still so much to go off of. It does feel weird that the reality marble was revealed here I will agree as well, but I don’t think it’s too much of an issue.

2023-11-12 06:28:20 +0000 UTCThis fight was purely frusting to read. Normally when I read a long fight end, I feel a sense of satisfaction. But here? I was just fucking glad it was over. Words keep repeating. Same moves/spells keep repeating, And probaly the most frustaing part of this whole chapter was. No one stopped talking for just 3 fucking paragraphs. I also just feel like it was a stupid way Shirou's Reality Marble could fully form. A Reality Marble is supposed the be THE ultimate weapon. Something even users of True Magic Would kill for. And here he fully unlocked it when he was fighting against someone no one know or frankly gave a fuck about. And as he said himself... he should have just killed him as soon as possble. Just the fact that he knew he could do that shows how he is barly a true threat for anyone here (and how meaningless this whole fight really was). Meaning this was just a nothing bruger... Nothing was satisfying about this chapter. Becouse of the way the Reality Marble "came out" The technique just feels cheap as you have set a precedent of how big of a threat level a person have to be for Shiou to use his Reality Marble (a second rate villain that the big bad of the novel could sneeze at and he is gone) The only reason this fight was even a fight is becouse of the bullshit "10000 incets technique" that every anime under the sun have used when their villain is boring and the fight just needed to be longer so the MC can get his "pulled out of ass ultimate technique that he just needed a push to get" Overall I am disappointed. If this is a "golden key" moment for you I am worried for the development of this fic.
