Small change!

Hi all! Just letting you know I've decided to turn off the dollar amount I make on Patreon, so you'll only be able to see the number of Patrons I have. I've hesitated to do this for a super long time because I think transparency is important with any business, but in the last few years I have gotten an influx of folks who are just kind of shitty to me when they see that dollar amount. From getting my exclusive Patreon content stolen, to sending me comments about how I don't deserve that much for "just drawing gay anime porn" (but at the same time "not drawing enough gay anime porn" lol).

But I've come to the realization that some folks think I just pocket that 30+k every month and that is sooooooo not the case. I use the majority of that money to pay my office rent, pay my full time assistant and other contract employees, pay hosting fees, and printing, shipping,  equipment, and manufacturing costs. Of course I have other income from Kickstarters and store sales, but when it's all totaled at the end of the year, I end up with maybe 35-40% of what I make across all of that. Yes, I live comfortably and I'm so grateful that I am in this position, doing what I love, but that visible dollar amount on Patreon has become a more deceptive number as my costs increase over the years. I reinvest in my work to try and create some kind of security in this internet hellscape.

And, I've hinted to this here and there, but I am spending a significant amount this year on updating my website. Not making an official announcement yet, but we will be launching it in the next few months and it will be bringing some *changes* to my Patreon. (Not leaving Patreon!! Just keep an eye open at the start of 2024 ;) )

Anyways thank u for listening to my rambling. It's very strange to be in this position of not wanting to be a capitalist ghoul and like needing to feed my cats lol

Comments

I super respect that decision and just adding to all the comments - you deserve all of what you get, you ARE amazing and I'm only wishing you to get more successful with years, which I have no doubt about with how persistent and hardworking of a person you are! Keep doing what you're doing and not forget to take breaks! 🀍

I just want to say I am impressed by your success with your craft and hope all creators I back reach the same level of success.
