The show portrayed the police as totally inept, and the writing was ineven, but this show was good enough to warrant the 5 episodes. However, Kelsea's commentary helped make this watch much better. Thanks Kelsea!

Hey Kelsea, what's next?
If you enjoy British police drama, might I suggest a few gems, in order of best to next.
1. C.B. Strike.
Afghanistan war vet and private dick, C.B. Strike, who lost his leg, and suffers PTSD, teams up with a chirpy young temp filling in because his girl Fridays keep leaving his sorry ass, and the two form a special bond while solving odd cases. C.B. Strike is interesting, beautifully acted and Holiday Granger (Cinderella and Lady Chatterley's lover) is superb. Her next best cop drama is The Capture. Both are excellent. Can be watched as a single season, but this is not recommended. 4 seasons, 4 eps per season.
2. Unforgotten.
An investigation team solves cold cases, and the story is told through the eyes of the police, as well as the perpetrators. Nicola Walker is fantastic as lead investigator DCI Cassie Stuart. Great series. Can be watched as a single season.
3. The Fall.
Hard, gritty, disturbing police drama that follows the investigation of a serial killer. Gillian Anderson (X Files) plays DSU Stella Gibson, and her performance is breathtaking. Three seasons, 5 eps, 6eps and 6eps respectively. Must be watched as a whole.
4. Bodyguard.
Troubled war vet turned policeman, Sergeant David Budd is assigned to protect controversial Home Secretary, Julia Montague. Richard Madden (Robb Stark, GOT) is excellent. This is a six ep single series, so it is short. BTW, Madden is tipped to be the next Bond.
5. Broadchurch.
A seaside town, (very much like mine) is rocked by the murder of a child. David Tenant (Dr Who) and Olivia Coleman (The Crown) are wonderful. 3 seasons, 8 eps each.
Honorable mentions.
6. The Killing. Hard hitting, gritty American cop drama.
7. Luther. Excellent cop show with a perfect fem-fatal killer.
8. Mare of East Town. Amazingly good drama with Kate Winslet as detective Sheehan.
9. The Night Agent. Low level FBI agent, Peter Sutherland, works in the basement of the White House, manning a phone that never rings... until it does! it's a somewhat predictable story, but enjoyable, and has two of the nastiest baddies you will ever meet.
10. Reacher. Something a bit different. Continues the story of Jack Reacher (Alan Ritchson), an ex-special ops Ranger, who teams up with a pretty police officer to investigate a series of murders. This series is ongoing and rates in the 8's
There you go. Never say I don't offer alternatives to my all-time favs.
Cheers. ๐
