Gladiator - REACTION/COMMENTARY

I just watched “THE WATER DIVINER,” a film directed by Mr. Crowe. It’s excellent! It also won 3 Australian academy awards. I think Kelsea would love it!!!!!!

Jason Lam

Oh boy I can imagine how incredible this would be in theaters!!! That's insane it won so many awards but I totally see why! His speech was SO EPIC! Definitely goosebump-inducing! I agree with you on the "what we do in life, echoes in eternity" line! Oh my GOSH! No I didn't notice that but it's HILARIOUS! I mean I saw that happen it just didn't click lol. That is such a painful yet funny portrayal of modern day politicians. LOL. I truly hope the masses won't remain hypnotized.... Oh wow, that's crazy that he died! Very cool that they could find a way to finish the movie with his face though. I enjoyed it so much!! This one is definitely one I see myself watching again and again!

Hey, guys. Great reaction as always. BTW, I was only one of the many who promoted this movie, and I'm so glad you enjoyed it. It was a wonderful experience to see this in the cinema, and as movies go, Gladiator is almost flawless. The music, cinematography, acting, costumes and realistic special effects make this film one of a kind. In Dolby 7.1 surround sound, the soundtrack is amazing. The first scene opens with soft soothing music, then you experience the traumatic sounds of battle, (as if you are in the fight for your life) but then the battle noise dies to soft music again and we continue to watch the bloodshed and carnage while being caressed and feathered. That is proper cinema. Immersive. Enveloping. Amazing. Gladiator was nominated for twelve Acadamy awards and won five, including best picture and best actor. (Crowe.) More deserving was Joaquin Phoenix who, although nominated, missed out on best supporting actor. That was harsh. His performance was breathtaking. Although I do believe that Maximus's speech, "My name is..." won him the Oscar. That is proper goosebump worthy. I also loved Maximus saying, "What we do in life, echoes in eternity." How incredibly true those words are. Did you notice Commodus's entrance to the battle? He was safe and secure in his limo but stopped short of the "war" and rode the last 100 yards. Virtue waving has existed since the dawn of time. 😮 As Jarrett said, weak political power is derived from sleight of hand. Distract and lie, then control the masses. Our politicians and influencers have stolen Commodus's blueprints. Will the masses remain hypnotized? Time says no. And did you know, Oliver Reed, (Proximo) died during filming? His last scenes were special effects, his face superimposed onto another actor. Enough rambling. I love history, and this movie delivered everything I love about cinema. Thank you for watching. I hope you enjoyed. Be safe. Cheers. 🥰
