I grew up in poor neighborhoods and I knew a Mooney, and her friends. I lived right next door to them. And they were some of the warmest, kindest friendliest kids I knew.

When one of the guys walk in on Mooney, and is shocked that Halley has a kid, pretty much says Halley’s problem is that she has a kid, you can sense the seriousness of that on Mooney’s face. And by the end, when DCF shows up to take Mooney away from her mom, it’s terrifying. What happened to Halley’s life that led her to this moment? Was she like Mooney when she was younger? Could Mooney grow up to be just like her mom? And no, Mooney & Jancey never got to go to Disney World.
