The Hunt! + What’s happening with Impact Theory + Patreon Update

(This is long so... TLDR; Impact Theory is going on hiatus bc it’s cursed, The Hunt is replacing it bc I’m horny, $14+ patrons get early access to The Hunt, Patreon goals and tiers have been updated.)

Hey y’all! I’m excited to announce that I’m launching that ghost hunter boyfriends comic tomorrow! It’s called The Hunt and I’ll be posting it here and publicly.

You might be wondering…Lucid…what are you doing…you have this other comic you haven’t updated in months…

WHICH IS FAIR AND I’M SORRY!! To be honest I’ve been having somewhat of a creative crisis with Impact Theory. This is the fourth time I’ve restarted this comic, and if you want my real opinion I think it’s cursed. This is the only comic I’ve ever restarted and it has taken a toll on my relationship with it. I first started IT while I was still in art school, and if you follow me on twitter you have seen me rant about how toxic art school was for me creatively. It forced me to make things I super did not care about and put this nasty idea in my head that I had to make “”indie”” comics that were free of indulgence (aka no boys kissing). (There’s nothing wrong w those comics, they just aren’t what I want to make.)

It took me years to shake off what art school did to me. Impact Theory took the brunt of that. This current iteration is by far my favorite, but it still leaves that art school aftertaste in my mouth. When people ask me what IT is about I’m like…haunted…lines??? I don’t want to drop it entirely, I’m a stubborn bitch. BUT I need to take some time to reassess how the rest of the story pans out. I will return to it eventually, but I can’t say when right now.

So that leaves a gap in what I’ve promised to patrons. I’m replacing it with The Hunt, which is the very antithesis of what art school wanted me to make. :3c

(Plus I’m not blind to the fact that The Hunt has gotten a ton more attention than IT ever has, and business-wise, it makes more sense for me to focus my efforts on the more popular series since Avialae is ending after Ch 6.)

I never got to a point in IT where I could update it regularly, but I hope to be a little more regular with The Hunt since it’s in actual pages and not 50+ panel episodes. I’m already making 4+ pages a week between Avialae and Occultus, and due to the physical limitations of my drawing hand I can’t really do more than 4-6 pages a week total. And I need to regain my Avialae buffer since I’m rejoining the anime convention scene next year.

SO I will update The Hunt weekly on Fridays if I can fit it in. $14+ patrons will get early access to pages as I finish them. I may eventually move around how early access to The Hunt works, but in order to make this comic right now I need to pay my assistant to work on these pages so I’m limiting early access to the higher tiers.

I’ve also updated my Patreon tiers and info! I haven’t done that in literal years so it’s due time. I’ve changed around my goals a bit since now I have a better understanding of Taxes and in order to pay my assistant a fair wage at FT the angel level goal needed to be higher. (Please don’t think I pocket all that every month lmao;; A lot more than you’d think goes back into the comic.) Nothing has changed for the tiers outside of what I’ve already announced here, but if you missed something all the tiers should be accurate now.
