Great episode. Iroh is such an outstanding character because he's technically one of the bad guys, except he's absolutely not. Even as a high-ranking general of a conquering army, he had a deep respect for the people and cultures they were invading. Giving him and Zuko (another "bad guy") this strong bond of what's probably the most loving relationship in the show, is such good writing for a children show. Sokka is awesome. Toph is really entertaining to watch, yet probably terrible to live with ... this show is just so good with characters. And it's made for kids. It's baffling to me that this even exists.

2021-08-28 08:01:35 +0000 UTCI love every subplot of this episode. I think it was very good story-telling to have Aang learn water-bending really easily, but struggle with earth-bending. That scenario is one of the indications of how much care was put into this show by the creators and writers.
