No coincidence that your top five is almost all episodes written or co-written by Tim Minear. He is brilliant with character arcs and your top five is a testament to that. Only Guise Will Be Guise is the only one that did not involve Tim Minear.

I think I regard the Pylea arc higher than you do, as I think they're all such fun episodes that I rewatched independently all the time, but otherwise? We're very similar in our thinkings. Faith's absence in this season is very evident to me, as we had that scene with her in the first episode. And Darla's exit alway seemed very abrupt. But I never felt bad about these things as they birthed some of my favorite episodes. Pylea might be one of my favorite things Angel's done. It's such a stark contrast to what the show usually is. It gave Lorne so much more character depth. As well as Cordelia. And it totally subverted my expectations whilst first watching. I don't know. I just enjoyed all three, the finale especially, so much! Also, it gave a good excuse as to why Angel couldn't be around to help Buffy during The Wish, as I believe he would've come to help her protect Dawn. More muscle the better. But he was indisposed in a different dimension. So, good continuity there. . . Anyways, yes! Great review. Can't wait for 3x01!

2020-02-18 23:27:17 +0000 UTCJust a thought, maybe in future season reviews, you could do top 5 or 3 stand alone scenes. For example, while ‘Epiphany’ as an entire episode was not an all time favorite episode of the series, Kate and Angels scene at the end is an all time favorite scene for me. Another example could be Lorne and Angel’s car ride in ‘Happy Anniversary’, while I’m not the biggest fan of the episode as a whole, for someone reason I absolutely love that scene and it’s very memorable. Just a thought.
